Little random treasurehunt

It's "little random treasure appreciation month".
A selection of my collection that I really like. Let's kick of with this one :

Wonderful soundtrack to a lazy Sunday ... (too bad I have to work in a few hours)
You will notice they left out a track on the back-sleeve of the record. The 'info' file I added, contains the correct tracklisting.

The last Diva has left the building

I love these BB tunes.
And her voice is so iconic and connected to his music... it's like they are inseparable.

As you may have noticed. I'm experiencing some difficulties with my download services. I'm experimenting a bit here. Don't mentioning title or artist might keep the 'robots' away from discovering me. Other tips are always welcome in the comments.
I don't like the idea of going private...
My whole purpose with this blog is to have people 'stumble' upon it and have them discover this kind of music. A kind of music they might have looked down upon, or they've forgotten...
Going private means that the only visitors will be people who already know this kind of music, and who already can appreciate it.
You see, I love recruiting new souls into Lounge and Easy-heaven ;-)

It's the last day of March. So the last Diva has left the building.
If all goes well I will be starting the new theme tomorrow. (so you'll be gettin' two this weekend !)
So come and visit.

Déja Vu

My files just keep disappearing... no warning, no e-mail, nothing...
I'm trying to stay afloat, but don't be surprised when something is vanished. I can't help it...

Monsieur Maurice made a request...

if I could post a record of his favorite diva ? I asked him why ???
He said she made his whiskers curl ;-)

Side 1
01 Fascinating Man
02 Mademoiselle Kitt
03 Oggere
04 Lisbon Antigua
05 Just An Old Fashioned Girl

01 Lazy Afternoon
02 Johnny
03 If I Can't Take It With Me
04 Thursday's Child
05 Lullaby Of Birdland (*)

(*) Now I must add that there is a BIG skip in 'Lullabye of Birdland', and it has nothing to do with the fact that Monsieur Maurice sometimes jumps on my turntable (even if that is absolutely off limits !). It was that way when I bought it... so if any of you happen to own a good 'spare track', feel free to add it.

DMCA is rearing it's ugly head (again)

DMCA has reared it's ugly head (again) and made MediaFire block a bunch of my files.
It's been almost a year since the last massacre among the lounge-bloggers. A sad day indeed...
(and just when I wanted to celebrate my 50 000th visitor !)
Sorry folks there will be no reposting.

Big and Bold

This week an album with a very BIG sound. It's Ron Goodwin's 'Rhythm & Romance'. It has a very 'retro' feel about it, especially when you consider that it's recorded in 1976. If I would have to make a guess on the orchestration alone, I would date it 20 years earlier. But the 70's classic 'Send in the Clowns' is a giveaway.

Lots of 'classics' on this one :

Side 1
01 South Rampart Street Parade
02 Temptation
03 Cherokee
04 Jealousy
05 I'll see you in my dreams
06 Brazil

Side 2
01 Stardust
02 Deep Purple
03 Laura
04 The Touch of your Lips
05 Return my Love
06 Send in The Clowns

imo you can never go wrong with 'Laura'

Studio 2 Stereo at it's best

Today I present to you the album 'Warm & Gentle' by the 'John Cameron Orchestra'. It's studio 2 stereo at it's best in my opinion. Not a bad track on this one. It's sweet and gentle yet sophisticated... The perfect soundtrack for your valentine dinner.

Side 1
01 Warm and Gentle
02 Let's go to San Francisco
03 When lights are low
04 Here, there and everywhere
05 You'd be so nice to come home to
06 Silence is golden

Side 2
01 Mexico (Sand and Foam)
02 Till there was you
03 Feed the birds (Tuppence a bag)
04 Autumn leaves
05 Once there was you
06 Summertime

Spread the love and see ya !

The wonderfull world of Studio2Stereo

February is gonna be Studio2Stereo month. You're gonna get 4  examples of my collection from that label. We'll kick of with 'Hammond Hits the Continent' from Harry Stoneham.

Side 1
01 Oh, Oh, July - La Felicidad - Iron Horse
02 Love Theme from 'Romeo and Juliet' - L'Avventura
03 Popcorn - A Place in the Sun
04 Mamy Blue - Luglio
05 Les Champs Elysees - Monsieur Dupont
06 Borriquito - Gruezi Wohl, Frau Stirnimaa - Dum Dum

Side 2
01 Turn On The Sun - Fin De Semana - Cantar Y Cantar
02 Cuando Sali De Cuba - Guantanamera
03 Maria, Maria - Tzeinerlin
04 Costa Brava - Il Paradiso Della Vita - Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep
05 Trop Belle Pour Rester Seul - Viens Avec Nous - Freedom

Now I must confess, if there are 2 things that I don't like in easy listening, it's hammond organ music and medley's... So you are getting a record that I'm really not that fond about, because it is not my taste.
It doesn't mean that it isn't any good... It's just not my taste...
But the hammond and Stonheham lovers out there can always use the comments section to convince me that I'm wrong.

The new year brings you a "Box"

To be exactly, a box filled with a 'Kaleidoscope of Sounds'. This months theme will be 'box-sets'.
The first one is a RCA issued limited collectors edition. Especially made for the RCA Globecom branch in 1974. It's like they say 'their way of expressing their total appreciation'.

The box contains 3 records, filled with an eclectic selection of instrumental and vocal tracks. There's some for everyone. From country to (semi) classical.
Today I give you the first record.

Record 1
Side 1
01 Hugo Montenegro - Theme From The Godfather
02 Ed Ames - Just One More Chance
03 Ann Margret - Moon River
04 Duke Ellington - Take The A-Train
05 John Hartford - Gentle On My Mind

Side 2
01 Eugene Ormandy, Philadephia Orch - Theme from 'Romeo and Juliet'
02 Vaughn Monroe - Ballerina
03 Kate Smith - Call Me Iresponsible
04 The Guess Who - Undun
05 Charlie Barnet - Cherokee

My personal favorites are  Hugo Montenegro's slightly psychedelic version of the Godfather's theme and The Guess Who with Undun.

Enjoy !
